Bill “Murf” Murphy


Senior Advisor & Educator

Maj. Gen. William Murphy (USAF Reserves) serves as a Senior Advisor and Educator at Small Business Consulting Corporation (SBCC) where he teaches and consults on education, training, leadership, and national security. He is a co-founder and senior fellow at the National Institute for Deterrence Studies.

He has over 30 years of joint military experience, including Deputy Director of Operations at the National Military Command Center, Special Assistant on NC3 Matters, where he led the NC3 Enterprise Center and currently serves as the Mobilization Assistant to the Commander of United States Strategic Command and Airborne Emergency Action Officer conducting strategic deterrence and operations missions aboard the Looking Glass Airborne Nuclear Command Post.

He lectured and served on faculty or as a senior mentor at the National Defense University, Missouri State University, Louisiana Tech University, and AFIT. He currently serves as a Professor at Missouri State University, School of Defense and Strategic Studies where he instructs courses on Russian Military Strategy and Military Operations; and a senior mentor for nuclear deterrence and assurance courses at the School of Strategic Force Studies, Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT).
